Good news on the Vaccine Front

Great news today from the long running research for a HIV Vaccine. A study released today shows exciting promise to the vaccine being used in Thailand in collaboration with the US Army. It was given to 16,000 volunteers and it was proven to be 31% effective in preventing HIV infection. For it to be approved and used it has to be at least 50% effective. This means that with ongoing research we could quite possibly have a vaccine in 10 years. For more information go to .
There is HOPE!!!!!

“Mom, plus baby, minus HIV”

Poz magazine has a great article on mom’s and pregnancy, specifically focusing on the Latina population. Get the magazine or go to www.poz.com to read the article. Having a pregnant, HIV Positive, Latina on the cover rocks and am so proud of Poz.

Blog Announcement

Hi and welcome to my blog. Those are words I never thought I would write but here we grow with technology and hopefully more ways to stay in touch. I am so glad to have WLP’s new web site up and running with so many features that will benefit both the community and our clients. Check out all the pages and let me know what you think.  My entries here will be on a variety of things, links to resources, other web sites, clinical trials, HIV in the news, surveys etc….. Ask questions and I will get the answers for you. Use the Forum in the Client Corner to speak with other positive women, develop friendships and get support as well as see the upcoming events for clients, The Sisterhood Series, Lunch n Learns, get togethers etc…

For the community see our upcoming events such as the Hai Stakes Casino Night coming up on September 17. Chances to come out, have fun and support WLP and the clients we serve.

So please use our site as a learning resource, a place to get support and understanding. This is all about living and thriving with HIV not only for me but for you as well. So welcome and enjoy!
